I really like the knight in the final game of Netflix's Queen's Gambit, which look pretty close to actual soviet chess pieces at the time. On the show it has no details at all on it on either side of the knight, it's just a clean abstract curved shape, maybe some slight contour around the nose. And the rooks are so fat and shiny. I think the first Staunton knight you showed is the best one in your set. Good detail, no goofy smile, strong round looking horse.

So both sides were made of maple, and the black pieces were dyed? That's very interesting. I had always assumed the black pieces were made of a different species of wood, maybe walnut.

This chess clock was manufactured by Spanish company Sistemco. The clock is called the Novo DI-CHESS. (The "DI" presumably stands for "digital.") The clock was also referred to as the "Novo 2000" circa 2000. The clock is handmade and is very handsome. It is difficult to access the battery replacement panel, however. To manually change the starting times, hold down the top two buttons together, then press the bottom button (the mode selection button). An "H" will appear indicating you are in manual mode. You can then adjust the times for each player with the top buttons. You can also multiple periods to the game, but those instructions are much more complicated.
